Every student is required to be at the rehearsal Saturday, May 4, 2024. THIS IS NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL. Rehearsal will be held at the Metropolitan Theater.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your rehearsal time on rehearsal day. We always do everything we can to keep rehearsal running smoothly and on time, but please be patient with us if we fall behind. Sometimes a class takes a little longer to set, and we want to make sure every class has their best possible performance on Sunday!
Miss Jessica is more than happy to answer questions, distribute tickets/programs and take payments (credit card or cash ONLY – no checks on Rehearsal Day). However, please allow her the OPENING NUMBER time frame to get things taken care of prior to asking questions, making final payments, and picking up tickets. She will make an announcement when she is ready.
Please note that our rehearsal is a rehearsal for EVERYONE, including the sound and lighting people. What lighting looks like on rehearsal day is NOT what it will look like on recital day. The technicians are working on programming the lights while our dancers are dancing. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE TECHNICIANS BOOTH AND COMPLAIN ABOUT LIGHTING OR SOUND ON REHEARSAL DAY. Trust that they know what they're doing, and our recital will be as beautiful as always!
We're so excited to see all of the amazing dancers during recital, and we know you are too!
How does rehearsal run?
When you arrive at the Met, have a seat in the auditorium. Each class is in a group of 4 or 5 other classes, based on the recital order. For example, the first rehearsal block looks like this:
Stand By Me
Believe (6-8 Jazz)
I’m Still Standing
Great Big World
Those four numbers will be called to the stage at 10:00. PLEASE TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THE RESTROOM PRIOR TO BRINGING HIM OR HER TO THE STAGE. We will run through those four dances, practicing entrances and exits from the stage as well as “blocking” on stage – it’s a different size than our classrooms, so dancers are able to spread out a little more. Then we’ll do it again (competition pieces may only run one time)! After that, your dancer is free to leave until 15 minutes prior to his or her next rehearsal time. If your dancer is in only one dance, you’re done for the day! Please be sure to dress your dancer is you would for class – tights, leotard and shoes – with hair secured (preferably in a bun). THIS IS NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL!
You are welcome to take photos/video during rehearsal. Please note that photos and video are not permitted during recital.
If your dancer has more than one dance, you are welcome to bring other costumes to the Met on rehearsal day. Dressing rooms will be assigned downstairs. Please check all costumes and make sure you’re not missing any pieces or accssories. Don’t forget tights, shoes, hair accessories, gloves, etc. YOUR DANCER WILL ARRIVE ON RECITAL DAY DRESSED IN HIS OR HER FIRST COSTUME FOR THE DAY, so be sure to leave that one at home!
